Please ask for Alyson or Debbie who can help you, please see Contact Us link above.

Norfolk Rural Business Advice Service (NRBAS) provides independent support for rural businesses.

Established by Shaping Norfolk’s Future in 2000, NRBAS is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to help Norfolk rural businesses develop through sustainable growth and change into the twenty-first century.

A key aim is to make information and support widely available and accessible.

We provide one-to-one business advice; group working and training; and support to projects dedicated to tackling key rural issues.

This website gives you a range of practical tools and information that will help take your business forward.

The key areas of the website are:

  • Farm Diversification / Rural Business Development: Whether your business is a farming one, a start up or an existing rural business, you may be considering diversifying or creating a new enterprise. This toolkit provides practical guidance in assessing a new business idea and developing the business plan.
  • Farmers and Business Forum: Open to both young farmers and young rural business people (20 to 35 years old), this programme provides practical support and help to tackle problems in work and business that will help you to develop your own opportunities.
  • RDPE Norfolk & Suffolk: In 2008, a local development strategy (LDS) was written for three areas in Norfolk and Suffolk (Brecks, Norfolk Coast and Broads, Waveney Valley).  This identified the area, the needs of that area and the overall plans for the six years of Leader funding available.  The programme has funding until the end of 2013.
  • News and Issues: projects we are working on to support rural business across Norfolk.
  • Events and Training: up-to-date information on what training and events are taking place.

Norfolk and Suffolk Leader 2008

Norfolk and Suffolk Leader 2008, LEADER is an innovative community driven method of delivering the Rural Development Programme (RDPE), which, at its heart, is the principle that rural communities understand their needs and if they work together they can achieve real and lasting change at the local level. To make this happen the LEADER approach provides support to broadly based groups of local organisations and individuals, to come together to define and then implement a Local Development Strategy.
